2002 Seville SLS
I bought my 2002 SLS in November 2004. Except for some minor issues, and one major one, this has been an awesome car. I had the crankshaft position sensor issue, MAP sensor went out, power steering hose, one hub, a coolant leak (water pump cover(known issue)), rattling headrest, steering wheel position sensor, classic shimmy between 60-75 mph, and other minor issues. The major issue was a P0741 trans code. The code first popped up in 2005 I believe. Finally swapped the trans this past November at a cost just shy of $4,000. All in all love this car. Keeping it in the family as it will end up being my sons first car. He turns 16 in two weeks and he gets his permit in November. I just hope he doesn't treat it badly

Re: 2002 Seville SLS
Wow I sure wish I got a 2002 SLS for my first car, does it have all the STS-like options; such as power telescopic wheel, heated front/rear seats, sunroof & moisture activated wipers? Also I can't believe a 4t80-e went out, thats the 2nd 2000+ 4t80-e i've heard take a dump, I wonder if they changed it at all like they revised the northstars in 2000, I would of checked out the shift solenoids. My dads a GM tech and has gotten cars with replaced transmissions but they had the old shift solenoids on them (still having issues) and put new shift solenoids in and fixed the problem, which ment it never even needed a new transmission if they just would of changed the solenoids out.
Re: 2002 Seville SLS
The trans didn't actually take a dump. My torque converter clutch was shot setting the P0741 code. The car still drove fine. Since the trans had to come out to fix the issue, it seemed foolish, to not just have it replaced. Dealer told me cost would be around $2500 to repair but I would still have a 120,000 mile trans. I agreed and figured the extra money was warranted. Seeing as this car won't be sold. And my son is actually giddy with getting it. He will be pimpin' it to high school

Re: 2002 Seville SLS
Forgot to mention that my SLS has everything the STS has except the higher HP engine, the taller final drive, and the perforated leather. So it is pretty stacked

Re: 2002 Seville SLS
I think i'd kinda prefer the SLS (as long as it had all the options) because of the taller final drive giving you WAY better gas mileage, and not screaming on the highway because the STS is almost 25% lower, although i'd def. prefer the STS suspension. And i've seen both their quarter mile/0-60 times, and theres little to no difference.
Re: 2002 Seville SLS
Not sure what a 2002 STS will do in the quarter but my SLS did a 15.2. It was a cold night at about 34*. I did nothing to try and lighten the car either. It was faster than I thought it would be
